Meaning and Spirit

In Chinese, “Sunming” means “crowing three times”, which is originated from an ancient Chinese tale. In that tale, there were ten suns in the sky and to save people and crops from the burning suns, an archer shot nine down but the last one was so frightened that it hid behind the mountain and never came out again, so the world became very cold. The rooster crowed loudly and clearly to call the Sun, and after the third crow, the Sun finally believed she was safe and rose. The action of the “three-crow” symbolizes Sunming’s spirits of bringing the world a glorious future with tenaciousness and persistence.
